The Data Owner is accountable for the definition, quality, and access of their domain’s business data. As a member of the Data Governance Council, this role is responsible for shared planning with their peers and aligning domain strategies with data governance.
Responsibilities
- Resolves any conflicts which occur among data stewards to ensure a single set of standards, policies, and definitions across the enterprise.
- Aligns domain project and non-project efforts with Data Governance strategies.
- Approves the data quality target metrics and holds accountable the business line and data steward(s) for achieving targets.
- Owns or influences business process definition and changes.
- Approves key business definitions and rules.

- Has some knowledge of the tools and technologies used in the product solution.
- Is a results-oriented team player.
- Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Is able to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Is able to distill complex concepts into easy-to-understand frameworks and presentations.
- Has a good understanding of the application/system functionality/features and how the application/system meets the business requirements.
- Has a good understanding and ability to apply various system and integration design patterns.
- Has knowledge of the tools and technologies used in the overall solution.
