The Data Owner is accountable for the definition, quality, and access of their domain’s business data. As a member of the Data Governance Council, this role is responsible for shared planning with their peers and aligning domain strategies with data governance. 

Responsibilities

  • Resolves any conflicts which occur among data stewards to ensure a single set of standards, policies, and definitions across the enterprise.
  • Aligns domain project and non-project efforts with Data Governance strategies.
  • Approves the data quality target metrics and holds accountable the business line and data steward(s) for achieving targets.
  • Owns or influences business process definition and changes.
  • Approves key business definitions and rules.

Qualifications/Certifications

  • Has some knowledge of the tools and technologies used in the product solution.
  • Is a results-oriented team player.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Is able to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Is able to distill complex concepts into easy-to-understand frameworks and presentations.
  • Has a good understanding of the application/system functionality/features and how the application/system meets the business requirements.
  • Has a good understanding and ability to apply various system and integration design patterns.
  • Has knowledge of the tools and technologies used in the overall solution.
