Guidance on the recommended approach for customers leveraging PWX for SAP within the current PC domain, including key considerations and best practices.
- Safer and holistic approach : Customers on 10.4.x need to update their PWX SAP alongside the CDI-PC October release to a 10.5.x version (preferably 10.5.5). While we ensure interoperability between PWX and CDI-PC, the SAP transport shipped with CDI-PC will be on the latest version, and PWX cannot remain on the 10.4.x series. Additionally, 10.4.x has reached End of Support. Therefore, it is highly recommended to update the PWX SAP as part of the CDI-PC migration.
- Another feasible approach /faster approach ( carrying some incompatibility risks) : Upgrade to CDI-PC and test functionality with existing SAP transports. If need be, update transport/libraries and configuration on SAP side to same version as CDIPC to ensure compatibility and resolve issues (if any).
Highlights key considerations for the AIX environment and Java dependencies during the upgrade process.
- Update the keystore.type=jks in java.security file in case of any issues starting the admin console services post upgrade.
- The default setting is "keystore.type=pkcs12"
Key considerations for customers using PWX CDC within the current PC domain.
Preparing for installation of Power Exchange libraries and files:
At the time of the April 2024 upgrade or shortly thereafter, if you previously specified Power Exchange in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or PATH environment variable, remove the Power Exchange references from these variables. Also, remove the PWX_HOME environment variable. The removal of these variables is required to take advantage of an April 2024 enhancement. With the enhancement, when you run the Designer or a workflow, the PowerExchange Listener version is automatically detected and the associated PowerExchange client libraries of the same version are loaded for CDI-PC.If you previously set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH (or PATH) and PWX_HOME environment variables but did not set the PWX_CONFIG environment variable, copy your existing dbmover.cfg file to the /usr/config/pwx directory, which is the default configuration directory.Alternatively, if you want to store your dbmover.cfg configuration file in a custom location, you can set the PWX_CONFIG environment variable or the PWX_CONFIG parameter in the overrides.cfg file to point to that location.
- Customer scenario: Migrated from PC 10.4.x to CDIPC
- Reg PWX_HOME
- On the PC Domain host(s): Set PWX_HOME environment variable to /dnbusr1/dnbapp/informatica/CDI-PC/Informatica/platform/pwx/bin/v1040
- Reg dbmover.cfg and PWX_CONFIG
- The dbmover.cfg can technically reside anywhere. Just that you would have to have PWX_CONFIG configured accordingly both on PC Domain host(s) and Integration service.
- My recommendation:
- Copy dbmover.cfg to /dnbusr1/dnbapp/informatica/CDI-PC/Informatica/platform/pwx/
- On the PC Domain host(s): Set PWX_CONFIG environment variable to /dnbusr1/dnbapp/informatica/CDI-PC/Informatica/platform/pwx/dbmover.cfg
- On the Integration service: Set PWX_CONFIG environment variable to /dnbusr1/dnbapp/informatica/CDI-PC/Informatica/platform/pwx/dbmover.cfg
- Reg license.key
- On the PC Domain host(s): Update /dnbusr1/dnbapp/informatica/CDI-PC/Informatica/platform/pwx/bin/v1040/license.key with the new key you received from GCS (you don’t have to mention any specific flag, it is just the key chain content)
Once these are in place:
- Restart listener and logger services
- Restart CDIPC domain
- Verify what the current PWX_HOME is set to.
- Unset PWX_HOME from PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
- Create overrides.cfg in the following directory <CDIPC_installation>/Informatica/platform/usr/config/pwx
- Include the following variable in overrides.cfg:
- PWX_HOME=<CDIPC_installation>/Informatica/platform/pwx/bin/v1050
- NOTE: Replace <CDIPC_installation> with your CDIPC install directory path.
- Run the session which uses PWX end point. This will use the PWX supplied with CDI PC install.
- If the issue persists after doing the above steps, review the following:
- Session log
- overrides.cfg
- tomcat_envvars.txt
- detail.log from CDI PC server
- listener log from z/OS server
