Q1. Can the same PowerCenter license key be used when migrating to CDI-PC?
Answer: Yes, the same license key file used for PowerCenter can be utilized when installing or migrating to CDI-PC.
Q2. Can the Secure Agent be installed on same server as PowerCenter or does it need to run on a separate dedicated server?
Answer: No, it is generally not recommended and secure agent is to be installed on a separate server.
Q3. Will an installation or patch be required to bring PowerCenter to the latest CDI-PC version?
Answer: Yes, there will be a patch required to be installed on Power center server.
Q4. What happens with Power Exchange components running on the Z/OS mainframe and/or our Remote Logger servers? Will there be an update required?
Answer: PWX version 10.5.x and above doesn’t need to be upgraded if there is no PWX logger or listener registered as a service on the Power center Domain.
Q5. Is there a need to update CDI-PC or Secure agent? If so, how frequently?
Answer: The secure agent tied to CDI-PC will be auto updated in specific release windows (when IDMC secure agent updates are pushed). However, once you cloudify your existing PC domains to CDI-PC you will have to upgrade these domains in CDI-PC. There are 2 planned updates in a year.
Q6. Is there a new client needed with CDIPC upgrade?
Answer: Yes, there is a new CDIPC client and is needed for the first time there is a CDIPC upgrade to the domain. Yearly planned updates typically don’t involve changes to the client but will be communicated upfront in the future if there is a need to.
Q7. Is there any data that will be transferred from Domain to IDMC?
Answer: For metering purposes, CDI-PC needs to send telemetry data (runtime stats) to the Informatica Cloud Control Plane. Telemetry metering data is aggregated and then sent to IDMC every 15 minutes, regardless of the number of jobs runs. In addition to metering data, the CDI-PC domain periodically sends a heartbeat to IDMC, which includes domain metadata such as nodes and services health.
Q8. What are the minimum hardware requirements for installing the Secure Agent?
Answer: Refer to the official documentation for detailed hardware requirements: https://knowledge.informatica.com/s/article/526096?language=en_US
Q9. Can I migrate code from PowerCenter and import it into CDI-PC (and vice versa)?
Answer: Yes, code migration is supported between PowerCenter version 10.5.x and CDI-PC. However, earlier versions of PowerCenter do not support this functionality.
