Description

Set up and configure new Tier 3 connections for PowerCenter (PC) and configure corresponding PowerExchange (PWX) listeners and datamaps. Install PWX server and client components.

Commonly used Tier 3 connector sources and targets include:

(i) Mainframe Datastores: IBM z/OS Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), Information Management System (IMS), and Adabas

(ii) Midrange Systems: IBM DB2 for i5/OS (AS400) physical files

(iii) Complex Legacy Files: sequential files stored on mainframe tapes or EBCDIC-encoded files that require character conversion

(iv) Change Data Capture (CDC): real-time transactional tracking for relational databases (e.g. Oracle CDC, SQL Server CDC, or DB2 z/OS CDC). These require a listener along with registration maps and a PWX Logger background instance.

Note: This list is not exhaustive. Additional information regarding the tier level for a connector that does not appear on this list can be obtained upon request from Customer’s Informatica representative.
