Enabling and Using Source Control in IDMC
Share On:
Overview
Source control in Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) integrates with repositories like GitHub and Azure DevOps to manage and track changes made to objects such as projects, folders, and assets. It enables version management for assets, except for certain objects like runtime environments or connections.
Pre-Requisites
- Ensure you have a Source Control license in IDMC.
- Set up the repository with proper access (read/write for development organizations, read-only for others).
- Create the necessary connections and runtime environments in your organization.
- Avoid using repositories containing an "Explore" folder, as IDMC uses this directory internally.
Self-Service Resources
Goals
- Versioning to track and restore changes to IDMC objects.
- Lock an asset during editing to prevent simultaneous modifications, and commit changes to create new object versions.
- Sync projects or assets from the repository and restore previous versions when needed.
- Ensure assets like mappings or components are available before creating dependent tasks.
- Track all source control actions made by users and monitor their operations.
Outcome
- To significantly enhance governance, versioning, and collaboration for development and deployment processes, ensuring best practice for teams to efficiently manage changes while ensuring stability across development and production environments.
